A Pair of South American altar candlesticks
probably Peruvian, dated 1676
Each on shaped triangular base and three lion's paw feet, the detachable baluster stem in two sections, with detachable partly-fluted circular drip-pan and cylindrical nozzle, the base chased with foliage and strapwork, with pricked decoration and three oval cartouches, one engraved with the date 1676, another with the figure of the Madonna and Child and the third with the figure of Christ, the stems pricked and engraved with stylised foliage, with 19th century French import marks, otherwise unmarked, partly filled
