The basin with maker's mark of John White, London, 1734, the ewer unmarked
The helmet-shaped ewer on a spreading circular foot with a border engraved with shells, scrolls and geometric pattern, the lower and the upper part of the body flat chased with similar strapwork, with moulded mid-rib, with a central vacant cartouche and shaped moulded rim, the acanthus leaf-capped scroll handle with applied female mask rising from an applied reversed double scroll, the shaped oblong basin with moulded rim, the border chased with shells, scrolls and diaperwork on a matted ground, with two vacant cartouches, the centre engraved with two monograms, AR with crown above and AC, the basin marked on reverse, the ewer engraved with scratchweight '25=8', the basin '45=0'
