The gilt-tooled grey leather-lined square top with moulded border and rounded angels above a plain frieze, on cabriole legs with amaranth moulding and terminating in upswept acanthus sabot, one rail stamped 'MIGEON'

Lot Essay

Pierre Migeon II (1701 - 1758) took over his father's workshop in rue de Charenton, as well as his retail shop. It is not known when he became matre, however he becomes famous early on and works on commissions for the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne et des Menus-Plaisirs. Famous bnistes such as Canabas, Dautriche, Lacroix and Topino worked at some point in Migeon's workshop.
