Lot Essay

The shape of the backs and the decorative scheme is related to a pair of armchairs which are slightly later in style, from the Marche region, and which are illustrated in A. Gonzlez-Palacios, I Mobili Italiani, Il patrimonio artistico del Quirinale, Milan, 1996, p. 295, no. 112.
