The circular enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic chapters inscribed 'GILLE LAINE', within scrolled foliate case with pierced sides lined with red fabric and surmounted by a seated hunting girl holding a gun, the movement marked 'E.D82' and signed 'Gille L'aine AParis', the enamel dial with restorations, later hands and anchor escapement

Lot Essay

Pierre II Gille, called Gille l'Ain, matre in 1746.
Gille l'Ain, was established in the rue Saint Martin and used cases supplied by Jean-Joseph de Saint Germain, Jean Marchand and Osmond.
