AN ORMOLU-MOUNTED SEVRES GREEN-GROUND OIL AND VINEGAR CRUET
The porcelain circa 1780s, the decoration and the mounts 19th Century
The stand of shaped oval form, painted with birds named in blue script on the underside 'Tourterelle, de la Garonne,', and 'Tourterelle, de la Jamaque.', within shaped oval gilt cartouches flanked by gilt foliage, each end with a butterfly in a circular cartouche, the two pierced circular supports with interlocking ovals fitted with covered cups with glass-liners, centred by an upswept foliate ring-handle and on lion's paw feet, the footrim ground and with minor chips, one glass-liner lacking, incised 'Ssa', with blue interlaced Ls mark enclosing the date letter 'ee' for 1782
10 in. (27.5 cm.) wide; 11 in. (28 cm.) high
