Lot Essay

According to Daniel Marchesseau (op.cit), Chat matre d'htel was executed in two versions. The first, of which the present work is one of twenty, was conceived in 1961 and shows the cat holding a rectangular platter with its tail touching the base. The second version was conceived in 1967 and shows the cat holding a bowl with its tail off the ground.
