Bin-soiled label with upper slip label marked: "Selection Raymond Baudouin". Lower slip label indicates the bottle was re-corked by the chteau in 1953. Level top-shoulder
Magnificent sturdy wines, more consistently reliable - if well cellared - than any other pre-phylloxera vintage. Lafite, tasted on six occasions. The first four, perfectly preserved, from Sir George Meyrick. The fifth, re-corked at the chteau in 1987, had correct depth but very mature colour; low-keyed but very good bouquet, sweet, fruity, meaty. Powerful, excellent flavour, length, firm tannin and acidity.
