Dated 1561
Of heavy construction, struck on the wheel-case with an indistinct brass-lined shield-shaped mark, the ratchet bar fitted with a belt hook at the top and engraved with the date above the claws, the winding arm in two stages with iron handle, decorated throughout at a later date mostly with scrolling flowers and foliage involving berries, monster-heads and scenes of the chase, the handle and the front of the wheel-case chiselled in relief with similar designs, much of the decoration retaining traces of gilding
