A SWISS ENAMELLED VARI-COLOURED GOLD SNUFF-BOX
Circa 1790, struck with prestige marks of an A crowned, AP crowned and pseudo-Parisian maker's mark II
Circular, the cover with central circular plaque chased with a shepherd holding a dove and shepherdess seated on rockwork with basket of flowers at their feet, within rayed blue guilloch enamel, and vari-coloured crossed palm foliage, flower and quiver cartouche on waved green guilloch enamel band, the outer gold border chased and enamelled with flowers, scrolls and foliage, the sides enamelled with four oval blue enamel panels chased with a goat, sheep, cockerel and hound respectively with vari-coloured floral swags on green guilloch between, the base with similar circular green panel within chased and enamelled floral border, the rim engraved IPT, marked on base and cover, the bezel with pseudo-decharge and post-1838 French warranty mark
