The inner face of the cover incised with a pictorial representation, the horizontal face with inset compass, blued-iron needle and brass cap, the glass with silvered copper retaining ring, the dial face engraved with vases, cornucopia, swags and foliage, the hour dial with string gnomon, the underside incised with a reserve inscribed 'TIS. TAL. NIET SORIDER. GOT. SICHVO ORDICH TROW. IS. WYNCH', with two silver metal hooks and eyes
