Lot Essay
This presumably was cut from a portrait of a woman probably painted in the circle of Anthony van Dyck, circa 1618. Indications of chamfering at the bottom suggest that it was a three-quarter-length portrait, presumably not dissimilar to that in the collection of H.S.H. The Prince of Liechtenstein (G. Glck, Van Dyck, Klassiker der Kunst, 1931, p. 87, right).
