A 14-Bore Spanish Miquelet-Lock Belt Pistol
Late 18th Century
With two-stage barrel turned at the muzzle and girdle, polygonal forward section, octagonal breech section with silver-inlaid foliage, single silver breech line, and single punzn (lining missing) of Eudal Molas of Ripoll, engraved tang, engraved lock signed 'Torento', walnut full stock (fore-end cracked) carved with foliage in relief behind the barrel tang, brass mounts engraved with rococo decoration, including spurred pommel with silver-plated mask cap, and trigger-guard with a further silver-plated mask, shaped silvered escutcheon, iron belt hook, and later brass-tipped ramrod

Lot Essay

The signature on the lock is probably that of Pere Torrento, recorded in Ripoll between 1756 and 1810.
