Chteau Mouton-Rothschild--Vintage 1986
Pauillac, 1er cru class. Chteau-bottled
Only the 75cl bottles in original wooden cases
Tasting note: A spectacular wine and certainly a top '86. Outstanding at the Latour/Mouton tasting in March 1989: opaque centre, intense immature purple; raw young fruit and spice, a rich, almost thick, blackcurrent aroma tirelessly churning out, sweet, with considerable depth; fabulous flavour, packed tight with fruit, very tannic, fragrant aftertaste. And at the recent MW tasting: the most magnificent depth of colour; totally different style from Lafite and with 'toasted' Cabernet fruit like Latour, only more complete and more intense. Lovely fruit on the palate. Crisp. Very flavoury. Plenty of tannin and acidity.
