Lot Essay

Vacheron & Constantin Geneva confirm the production of the watch as simple dress watch in 1961. It was returned to the factory in 1964 to add the enamel scene to the back with which it is thought to be a unique piece.

The enamel portrait was created after a painting titled 'Le Fumeur' ('The Smoker') by Adriaen Brouwer (1605-1638), a famous flemish painter.
