A Staffordshire pottery transfer-printed cylindrical mug
printed in purple with half-length portraits of William IV and Adelaide, flanking a crown above roses, thistles and shamrocks, between gadrooned and beaded section, the interior printed with inscribed banners, circa 1831 (some minor flaking and staining to rim) -- 9cm. high; and a similar larger example, printed in deep-pink with similar vignettes, the rim and border with moulded sections (rim chip and extensive staining) -- 10cm. high, circa 1835 See illustration (2)
