Autograph letter signed (''Edwin Landseer''), to an unnamed gentleman [possibly a patron], 2 pp., 8, Tuesday 8 January 1828. Apologising fo the delay in sending him '' 'the Monkey Picture', which ought to have been sent to you long ere this''. Explaining that he has been in the highlands since their meeting at the Royal Academy dinner and requesting permission ''to keep the picture a few months longer, in order that it may be engraved for a new publication''.
One-page autograph letter signed (''James Northcote'') to Sir William, from Argyll Place, 4, 21 July 1828. Concerning a misunderstanding which has ''[created] anger'' with Mr Lowdhams. ''I certainly had a great desire to show the picture to several of my friends, particularly to the painters and that was my principal reason for making the copy as I apprehend you had left orders that the picture should be given up the moment it was finished and I could not find in my heart to lose sight of it so soon as it was to me a favorite [sic] picture, but I now assure you that it is out of my power to do any thing more in this matter to give you pain.''
With another letter signed (''David Wilkie'') and three others by (''B.R. Haydon'') both of similar artistic interest. (6)
