Autograph letter signed ("Albert Edward") as Prince of Wales to R. H. Collins, Controller of the Household to his younger brother Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany, 7pp., 8, on paper bearing the Prince of Wales feathers, dated Elveden Hall, Thetford, Suffolk, Dec 6, [n.y. but postmarked 1876].
A concerned letter about his brother's health. Prince Leopold was afflicted with haemophilia and died at the age of 30 in 1884. He was the father of Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone. "I am delighted to hear such favourable accounts of my brother - & I hope with thorough rest and quiet for some time to come he will get his leg quite sound again ... I am sorry to hear that there have been bothers again at Head Quarters - but it is sure to blow over soon. When I go to Windsor next week, I will certainly do my best to smooth matters over" -- and a printed invitation to Edward VIIth's Coronation, signed ("Edward R. I."), to Isabella Marchioness Dowager of Exeter, June 2, 1902, one page, 4, integral blank leaf.
Autograph letter signed ("Alexandra") to Lady Cowley, 3 pp., large 12, turquoise paper with Alexandra's name embossed in purple, Marlborough House, [n.d. but c. 1875]. "How very very kind of you to have thought of me and remembered my weakness for sweets of all descriptions and to have sent me that pretty box of caramels which gladdened my eyes yesterday - They are quite excellent, the children and I enjoy them immensely".
