Yang Yanping was born in Nanjing in 1934. In 1980 she was appointed an artist of the Beijing Academy. In 1986 she was awarded a fellowship for culture and education exchange with China at SUNY at Stony Brook, New York. She has exhibited widely since 1978 in China, Japan, America, France and Austria. Since living in America, she has continued to exhibit world wide. Her paintings are held in numerous important public and private collections in China, America, France, England, Japan, Norway, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. Her many honours include the prestigious Zanders Art Presentation Calendar in honour of the United Nation's 50th Anniversary.
