A rare nickel/brass surveyor's folding rule and square,
signed on one arm D. MAUCH COLOGNE, each arm engraved with scales for various uses and proportions for weights and liquid measures, areas in acres and square yards, proportions, one arm incorporating a spirit level and folding section incorporating a edge-bar needle with folding cover, another folding section concealing a compartment, the hinge with protractor scales with opening for compass (missing), another surface with boxwood scale and area to support a second bubble level, further enclosing a drawing square with the smaller arm incorporating a magnifying lens, contained in the original leather carrying case with sockets to contain drawing pencil -- 7in. (19.7cm.) long
