engraved on one side HORARIVM VNIVERSALE with an hour scale engraved with the signs of the zodiac, to one side of the scale Post Meridiem, the other side Ante Meridiem, the lower edge Longitudo Stli, the plate pierced for use with a pin-gnomon (now lost) -- 4 x 3in. (10.2 x 7.7cm.)
