An early 19th-Century brass continental compound monocular microscope,
unsigned, the body-tube with draw-focusing, engraved for objectives 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, fitted with one objective engraved 1, green-stained vellum-covered outer body-tube with gilt-tooled decoration, located on an arm, with fine-screw fore and aft adjustment and gear adjustment for angular rotation, the square-section pillar with tangent-screw fine adjustment for the stage, the stage with two spring slide clamps, bull's-eye condenser and mounting for frog plate and other accessories, the lower pillar with concave mirror raised on a compass joint and octagonal mount, on a fruitwood plinth base containing a drawer for accessories, with three ivory and one fruitwood mount, and other items -- 20in. (50.8cm.) high
