A late 19th-Century Powell & Lealand No. 3 lacquered-brass compound monocular microscope,
signed on the arm POWELL & LEALAND 170 Euston Road. LONDON 1893, with rack and pinion coarse focusing, fine-screw adjustment, the body-tube located on an arm, the eyepiece also engraved POWELL & LEALAND, with 1/16th objective with micrometer adjustment, the tubular body limb incorporating an attachment for the bull's-eye condenser, the mechanical stage with sprung slide holder and mounting for forceps and other accessories, the sub-stage condenser with iris diaphragm and filter attachment, with fine rack and pinion motion, articulated arm mounted plano-concave mirror, on tripod stand, the feet with cork inserts, with an additional body-tube, various sub-stage accessories and other items in accessory case, in fitted mahogany carrying case -- 18in.
