A 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound binocular microscope,
signed on the stand C. COLLINS, Optician, 157. Gt. Portland Str.t LONDON, the shaped limb with three supports for the binocular body-tubes, incorporating rack and pinion focusing, micrometer fine adjustment and the prism box, with mechanical circuit stage, with finely engraved circle adjusted by rack and pinion motion, sub-stage Abbe condenser similarly adjusted, and the lower limb with plano-concave mirror, with two eyepieces engraved Collins, London (C) achromatic, three other eyepieces, six objectives, a second Abbe condenser, monocular body-tube extension piece, frog plate and other items, in mahogany carrying case with inset brass handle -- 19.7/8in. (50.5cm.) high
