A MINA'I POTTERY SPOUTED VESSEL
CENTRAL PERSIA, CIRCA 1200
Rising from the short foot through rounded sides to a high vertical mouth, two spouts emerging from the body and everted at the rim, a handle at each side in the form of a lion, the white body decorated in blue and turquoise glazes together with red, sepia and black enamels in a panelled design, each panel containing continuous knot motifs within arabesques, the lion handles and spouts similarly painted, a band of stylised kufic around the rim, the interior of the rim with a band of black kufic, restored, probably with the inclusion of a few pieces from another vessel
