KASHAN OR NISHAPUR, PERSIA, LATE 12TH CENTURY
The drop shaped body on short trumpet foot with cockerel head mouth and straight handle, the body carved with four radiating panels of arabesques on a pierced ground above a band of monumental imitation kufic, the neck with a band of bosses below the fierce cockerel head, covered in a translucent white glaze with cobalt blue highlights, glaze stopping short of the foot, handle possibly associated, repaired breaks, slight restoration
