A miniature orrery, mechanism turning around a toothed wheel with a brass sunball at the centre, a pointer at one end and at the other a small painted ivorine earth ball with rotating moon arm above a circle graduated 1-29 and showing the successive phases of the moon, turning over a hand coloured engraved paper circle with pictoral representations of the houses of the Zodiac and graduated in days, with the names of the month around the outside, laid into the base of a turned fruitwood case, the underside with three brass acorn feet and a disc to turn the orrery mechanism (screw thread deterioration), the screw-on lid with trade label on the underside EBSWORTH'S New Portable Pocket ORRERY, the case -- 4in.
