maker's mark of Marshall & Sons, Edinburgh, 1883.
Of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, the tapering steel blade etched with Regimental crest, crowned VR cypher, and thistles, the studded ebony grip carved with Celtic interlace, the acanthus-carved pommel set with a foiled-back citrine-coloured paste, with matching small knife and fork, the silver mounts profusely chased with Regimental crest and zoomorphic motifs. 44cm. overall.
