Containing twenty-two covers with various stamps and cancellations from Harper's Ferry, many noting addresses within the Confederacy. Containing a small archive of covers and articles concerning Edward S. Avis, a military officer who by tradition was the child kissed by John Brown on the day of his execution. These covers are addressed to both Edward Avis and relatives. Edward S. Avis' father John was the jailor of John Brown. Together with five postal currrencies of the Civil War period, and many commemorative covers form the 1930s celebrating Civil War anniversaries.
