A GROUP OF FOUR NORTHWEST COAST POLYCHROME TWINED BASKETS
The first an old cylindrical Tlingit basket, of twined spruce root with false embroidery in dyed and natural bear grass, decorated with interlocking key motifs, The second a Tlingit basket in the form of a three legged kettle, woven in twined spruce root with false embroidery in red, purple and blue dyed bear grass in a band of geometric designs, The third a lidded Tlingit basket of cylindrical form detailed with eyelet work under the knob, woven of twined spruce root with false embroidery in purple and pink dyed bear grass with in two parallel zig zag bands, The fourth a Nootka/Makah basket of cylindrical form with lid, woven of cedar bark and bear grass, decorated with whales on the basket and birds on the lid in black, red, yellow, purple and green aniline dyes
