Almanach Royal, anne bissextile M.DCC.LX. Paris: Le Breton, 1760.

8o (186 x 124 mm). (Light foxing.) Contemporary red morocco gilt, sides stamped with a rococco plaque border of volutes and shells from the Dubuisson shop, spine gilt in compartments with interlacing strapwork and small fleurs-de-lys, title lettered in second compartment, gilt edges, Dutch-gilt floral pastepaper endleaves (slight wear to extremities, few small inkstains to covers).

Pierre-Paul Dubuisson (active 1746-1762) and his father Ren specialised in the finishing or dorure of almanachs, for which they developed the use of engraved plaques stamped by a press, a practice quickly adopted by their peers.
