3 parts in 2 volumes (Vol. I: Part 1; Vol. II: Parts 2-3; lacking Parts 4-5), 2o (420 x 272 mm). Vol I: frontispiece and 25 engraved plates; Vol. II: frontispiece, numerous engravings and woodcuts, including double page plate 'L'Origine des Chapiteaux des Colonnes' signed by Broebes. Paper cancel slip over Langlois' name on imprint. (Lower corner missing from Q1, Vol. II (not affecting text), corrected woodcut tipped in on recto of K2, Vol. II, some slight marginal browning, occasional faint dampstaining and spotting). Contemporary French red morocco, gilt arms of Louis XIV on sides, framed by a triple gilt fillet central panel with cornerpieces of the royal cipher (Vol. I) and fleurs-de-lys (Vol. II), triple gilt fillet outer border, spines in seven compartments with six raised bands, gilt-lettered in one (Vol. I) and two compartments (Vol. II), a repeated gilt panel in the rest containing the royal cipher (Vol. I) and fleurs-de-lys (Vol. II), board edges and turn-ins gilt, edges gilt (parts of covers dried, some very small stains and minor abrasions on sides, spines and extremities slightly rubbed); slipcases.
