Portrait of Cassandra Bardi, ne Capponi, bust length, in an embroidered dress and white ruff

This painting is very similar to group of portraits representing ladies who married into the Capponi family, now in the Uffizi, Florence (see Gli Uffizi, 1979, pp. 710-11, nos. Ic699-Ic702). Those paintings, like the present lot, are inscribed with the sitters' maiden and married names and show the sitter half length turned slightly to her right.
