Lot Essay

The eight panels in this lot are numbers 1-8 from the complete set of 33 panels of the Vues d'Italie, first published by Joseph Dufour & Leroy circa 1820-1825. It was reissued in color by Desfoss & Karth in the second half of the 19th century. The first five panels are taken from an engraving by Bourgeois, Vue du Vsuve et d'une partie de las ville de Naples, with the addition of the figures.
