Serial No. 96308, Factory Order No. 1157F, in sunburst finish, maple body, spruce top with f-holes, maple neck, twenty fret bound rosewood fingerboard with double parallelogram inlays, headstock face with vase inlay, wooden bridge, hinged metal tailpiece and imitation tortoise-shell bound pickguard; and black hardshell contour case with green felt lining and Lee Dickson's handwritten tie-on label Gibson L.7. '40. Sunburst. Ser 6308 and adhesive paper label similarly inscribed

Eric Clapton bought this guitar for collecting rather than playing purposes although he did play it occasionally.
