cover -- 1825 and 1827 entire letters, the former from Madras to Sotland (re-addressed on arrival) with unframed straight-line "SHIP LETTER" (S.35) and framed "INDIA" (In.8) alongside, both in black, the latter fro "Camp Kamptee" to Ireland, the reverse showing good strike of the framed "INDIA LETTER" (In.9) in black and fine framed "KAMPTEE/POST PAID" in red adjacent, variously rated and inscribed; minor perimeter tears. Both with full transcripts containg fascinating content relating to local events, the first with reference to religious matters and mentions the Bishop of Calcutta's dealings with "the Syrian Christians on the coast of Malabar"
