Lot Essay

The unusually small size of this side table is exceptional. It is the only auricular table of these dimensions known to exist. The carving of cherubs and acoll coats-of-arms indicate that this example was commissioned on the occasion of a marriage. Unfortunately, the shields have been effaced, which does not enable the identification of the newly-weds.
