A Dutch colonial brass mounted ebony and ironwood chest on stand
Indonesia, probably Batavia, first half 18th Century
The rectangular moulded hinged top, front, sides and back carved with various flower-sprays and scrolling foliage, the top with brass flower-head studs, enclosing a plain interior, above a front with large pierced lock plate, above two drawers, locks missing, with brass handles, brass handles to the sides, the stand on bulbous legs
