Matthijs Horrix, Mr. Kabinetwerker in 1764
This elegant fire screen is closely related to the marquetry wainscoting, inlaid with lacquer panels, of the Audiencie Zael at Huis ten Bosch near The Hague, which was executed by Matthijs Horrix in 1790-'91. Among the furniture, which Horrix supplied for that room, was a pair of fire screens, which are very similar to present example. (R.J. 5)
