Krishna and Balarama are depicted arm in arm under a tree. A couple composed as a mirror image of one another is typical of the Kalighat genre. The patua painters were deeply rooted in the practice of fashioning and painting clay images of deities, and this Kalighat painting shows direct similarities to the clay version of this scene. In the second work, Krishna and Balarama are depicted as children hand in hand with Yashoda.
