Birkenallee im Wannseegarten

The present pastel shows the garden of Max Liebermann's house on the Wannsee in Berlin, which he had purchased in 1909. The same view is depicted in various celebrated oil paintings (Eberle 1918/19-21 and 1919/24). Liebermann liked the subject so much that he used it later as his letter head.
