Specialist note

Dr. W. Minnich (1864-1940), a great supporter and keen collector not only of works by Anton Faistauer, but also by Redon, Soutine, Liebermann, Dufy and Pechstein, purchased the present work directly from Faistauer, when the young Austrian was travelling in Switzerland in 1922. While in Montreux, Faistauer stayed with Dr. Minnich, who was to become a paternal friend of the artist.

Sold together with some original correspondence from Anton Faistauer to Dr. Minnich dating from 1921 and 1922 respectively.
