Lot Essay

Constance Gordon Cumming travelled in India for a year arriving in December 1868. After a brief sojourn back in England she returned to spend a further two years travelling in Ceylon. She tried to sketch almost everyday and the fruits of her labours were published in 1892 as Two Happy Years in Ceylon, London and Edinburgh.
