Le Gographe - an old scholar in his studio

The Antwerp painter Brunin, co-founder of the artist's group Als ik kan, underwent the influence of Henri De Braekeleer in his work. Like De Braekeleer, Brunin depicted his favourite subject of 17th century scholars and artisans in their studios and workships in fine detail and colour with a strong emphasis on the play of light.
