Lithographed frontispiece, 2 plates, one hand-coloured, and one folding engraved map. (Light spotting.) Original blue cloth (slightly rubbed and bumped, spine faded). Provenance: PRESENTATION COPY, front blank inscribed 'To Dr. Richardson with the very kind regards of the author.' FIRST EDITION.

London: Parker, Furnivall, 1844. 8 (21.5 x 13cm.) 2 lithographed plates, 2 hand-coloured maps, one folding. (Occasional spotting.) Contemporary red half calf (extremities rubbed). Provenance: Sir Arthur de Capell Brooke (1791-1858, ownership inscription and bookplate). FIRST EDITION. General Worge (1707-1774) is described on the title page as 'Colonel of the 86th regiment of Foot and Governor of Senegal in Africa,' and the latter part of his 'war-spent life' in the then English colony of Senegal is felt by his biographer to be of 'peculiar' interest.
