The action-body, lockplates and furniture profusely etched and carved with bold acanthus scrolls on a matt ground, with full colour-hardened and blued finish, the triggerplate signed 'S.J.K', Purdey non-selective single-trigger, hold-open toplever, manual beetle-backed safety, well-figured stock with pistolgrip and leather-covered recoil-pad, the barrels with matt ventilated top-rib and intermediate bead-sight

Lot Essay

The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1982. It appears to be unused. The engraver, Stephen Kelly, has, for many years been one of Purdey's foremost 'house' engravers
