Lot Essay

While neither this bottle nor those in lots 380 and 383 are marked, the style is clearly that of the 18th Century. The shape can also be found in silver marked with the tughra of Ahmed III (1703-1730) (Krkman, Garo: Ottoman Silver Marks, Istanbul, 1996, p.156) as well, of course, as being found freqently in Kutahya pottery of the same period, such as lots 402 and 403 in this sale.
