Lot Essay

Corporal Alexander Von Stosch joined Kitchener's Horse on 14.8.1900 and is described on his attestation form as an 'ex-German Officer'. He gave his next of kin as his mother in Braunsberg, East Prussia and his Medal was sent to him in 1907 via the British Embassy, Berlin. Von Stosch was entitled to the clasps 'Cape Colony', 'Orange Free State', 'Transvaal' and 'South Africa 1901'.
