A small polished wood box, 3in. by 2in. (9cm. by 6cm.), probably for cigarettes, with slightly domed top and base, well-made sliding lid bearing the emblem of the Transvaal and motto, 'Eendract Maakt Mact', the base inscribed, 'Medeby P.O.W. St. Helena 1901'
