40 coloured illustrations, 14in. by 10in. (36cm. by 26cm.) and smaller, by various artists, between January 1896 and November 1902, the majority depicting incidents in the Boer War from October 1899 but including two relating to the Jameson Raid, several devoted to the arrival of Kruger and his Generals in France, some of a propagandist nature (the shooting of Scheepers, Boer women in concentration camps etc.), several celebrating British military reverses, three maps and some political cartoons (40)

Le Petit Journal was a French pro-Boer magazine 'which featured a coloured supplement depicting a Boer War scene on its front and back cover almost every week. These covers were sometimes removed' (Greenwall refers).
